Finished with the tomatoes for this year

Image
Cut the vines off at the root, pulled stakes up, and picked up all the fallen fruit. I'm leaving the roots in the ground as a nod to 'no till' practise. Letting the mustard that I planted a while back, take over.

Cabbage patch (update)

Something has been eating the young cabbages so I sprayed with BT and spread coffee grounds around their bases. I have a new series of plants growing in pots.

Grapevine canopy (update)

The leaves are turning. As soon as they drop I'm going to try a new pruning strategy.

Would wood work

Image
Just in time for winter, I finally finished my wood box. Much like my saw horse which I eventually knocked up last year, this is something I should have made a lot sooner. Both of these constructions were made with palette wood.  I've also been collecting driftwood, some of which turns out quite nice after a scorching and polish.

Starting a cabbage patch in last years garlic garden

Image
This week, as part of my sauerkraut project, I planted the first cabbage seedlings. I cleaned up the garlic patch from last year ( read here ) and built up the soil with green waste and horse manure. All that is left behind of the fish I buried last year are some scales

Gave the mustard a haircut today (update)
