Gear what I am using : Gopro camera
September is 'gear' month on Yoomimoomi.
Holidays are hazardous time for delicate electronic devices like cameras.
Environments such as sand, swimming pools, cocktails, vomit, and concrete can ruin lens, short out electronics, and split cases.
What we need is a camera that can survive life’s hard knocks.
GoPro cameras are a lens poking out of a matchbox sized plastic case, wrapped in a protective waterproof shell that is capable of withstanding depths of up to 197 feet (60 meters). Drop the camera and the case takes the impact.
Gopro have designed a huge range of mounts to attach the cam pretty much anywhere.
The Suction Cup attachment allows you to turn any window into a mounting point so you can camp it up with friends driving around, or document that fishing trip.
Clamp the camera to Handlebar, railings, helmets, and most body parts. Include the Tripod Mount and a GorillaPod in your kit and your options are pretty much unlimited.
This year up at the snow fields in New Zealand, these little cameras were all over the place. Usually bolted to a snow boarders helmet. If your going to go somewhere where there are big temperature differentials, make sure you get some of these moisture absorbing pads to insert into the case to avoid misting.
Wifi enabled Gopros can talk to a remote control box hanging off a key chain, or your phone. The phone link allows the user to access all the camera functions and provides a view finder.
Main problem I have with the new Gopro Black is it's battery draw.
My Gopro 2 runs for much longer on a battery charge.
A Gopro with it's optional battery pack clipped on the back runs for about 2 hours. I hooked up an external Solio battery to the camera, and got 3 hours 40 min with the extra juice from the Solio.
I'd like to see Gopro provide a way to plug in external batteries without losing weather protection.
I'm thinking that one of those phone recharge units could be the answer.
