Covid 19 : Day 18 of lock-down : Easter Sunday

Keep forgetting my injured finger and trying to unlock my phone with the fingerprint scanner.

Countries are starting to think about lifting their lock-downs. This is cool if you're in a state that has suffered a proper ‘lock-down’, but the American government is also itching to lift restrictions.

The Americans are already finished with drawing parallels with the recession after the GFC. Now they're comparing it with the great depression of the previous century. If you got a mortgage, or if you can't grow your own food you're going to be fucked.
The first to eradicate the virus are going to be best off in the long run.

Is there something a little bit sociopathic about someone who is more interested in the economy than people getting sick and dying around them?

So gentle Reader, you may be thinking… why Dave, why are you so preoccupied with the United States of America?
I'm mesmerizing watching the militarily strongest, richest, and most influential country on the planet being run (possibly into the ground) by fuckwits.

The U.S. hasn’t got a problem with money, or tech. It’s not run by a despot, or king.
The problem as I see it, is America's preoccupation with the ‘rights’ of the individual.
This issue is the same for any country being run by Conservative politicians.
Boris sent everyone in the U.K. a letter pleading with them to ‘do the right thing’.
You need the respect and a deep understanding of the situation within the population, to get away with a stunt like that.
The ‘office’ doesn't instantly grant respect.
The response to Boris inaction has been a U.K. death toll that is also scaling the curve.

These politicians seem to think that they are dealing with grown-ups.
The majority of the constituents might be adults, but it's the minority you have to worry about.
We have speed humps on roads because of a minority that don’t obey the road rules. This ruins it for everyone else.

And now, our weekly look at the U.S. maps from the Johns Hopkins website.

First Sunday of our lock-down...

This is from my blog last Sunday...

And this is a snapshot from this evening...

The West coast is doing a lot better than the East coast.
I’ve heard rumours that California is so pissed off with Fed inaction, that it wants to secede from the union?

The myth of freedom is so debilitating for western countries, especially the U.S.
We're not really free! We still have to pay taxes, obey the road rules. Still not allowed to walk up and slap anybody we don’t like.

The weather forecast is for rain and wind for the next week. This should force people indoors, at just the time when they are probably getting a bit relaxed about the ‘lock-down’.
